During this time, I developed extensive experience working with individuals marginalized by systemic oppression, experiencing chronic homelessness, severe & complex trauma histories, and folx living with a major mental illness (with and without a co-occurring substance use disorder).

Additional Areas of Practice/Expertise:

  • Chronic Pain and/or Illness; Disability
  • LGBTQIA+ Concerns: Sexuality and/or Gender Identity, Expression, etc...
  • Neurodivergence (ADHD and/or Autism)
  • Mood & Anxiety
  • Substance Use or Abuse
  • Major Life Transitions
  • Extensive experience working with young adults (20s & 30s)

  • Spiritual exploration and/or development (with or without formal religion)
  • Relationship Issues & Conflicts (including family of origin)
  • Navigating relationship structures outside of monogamy  (polyamory, ENM, etc...)

Using an eclectic approach, I use a variety of therapeutic modalities I am experienced in to best meet the needs of the person sitting in front of me.  Below are different models of therapy I  frequently  integrate into client sessions; always in response to your personalized needs and goals:

  • Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Psycho-education on topics specific to your personal challenges and/or goals in therapy
  • Integrating use of books and/or workbooks into therapy
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Somatic-Based counseling interventions
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD: An evidence-based, short-term trauma therapy (approx. 12 sessions)
  • Art Therapy (upon client interest)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Motivational Interviewing & Harm Reduction
  • Humanistic/Person-Centered Counseling

Additional therapeutic modalities I will integrate into sessions when it best serves the client, but use less frequently:

  • Narrative Therapy: Blends well with Art Therapy, though I rarely integrate this into talk therapy.
  • Exposure and Response Therapy (ERP): Only applicable for Obsessive Disorder (OCD). I am competent to treat OCD, but do not specialize in this area of practice.
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT): DBT tends to focus on concrete, easy to follow coping strategies primarily focused on emotional regulation and interpersonal relationship skills. I integrate DBT skills into sessions when it is helpful or needed for specific clients. My natural approach as a therapist is to focus more on resolving underlying issues with clients in therapy; I am also generally more creative and flexible when helping clients develop specific coping strategies and skills. As such, I will typically integrate DBT when clients need or want concrete, step-by-step (and widely practiced) instructions to cope with and manage mental health symptoms.
